Tuesday Bookclub

This bookclub was started through the Community Library at Thirroul on the Illawarra region of coastal NSW in Australia.

We had our first meeting on 15 September 2009 and meet on the 3rd Tuesday of each month at 5.30pm. If you live nearby and love books and reading, come along and join us!

The Bonesetter's Daughter, Amy Tan
Most of the group enjoyed the book. We identified themes of mother/daughter relationships, family and tradition, culture, spirituality. The metaphor of the bone was sprinkled through the book, from the fractured foot of Luling's father to the fractious relationships of Ruth, Luling, Gaoling and Art. See Review.
